The former Leeds United and Everton striker Jermaine Beckford scored the only goal of the game. Clark has said that Birmingham city were not competitive in any area of the pitch and deserved to get beaten.
“I thought first half we handed the initiative to Huddersfield, we weren’t competitive enough. Or certainly we didn’t have ten outfield players who were competitive enough. I know it takes all kinds to make up the facet of a team but we have to – all ten outfield players – take responsibility to compete with their opponents and come out with a 50-50 on the odd occasion. We tried to have a go second half. We brought Nikola Zigic on and did well,” said the manager after the match, which has left his team close to the relegation zone.
