The Birmingham manager Lee Clark has come out in full praise of the Hull City manager Steve Bruce after his team suffered a 5-2 defeat against the promotion chasing team during the weekend. Birmingham came into the match as the underdogs, and they were soundly beaten by the former Premier league team. Hull City are currently second in the Championship as a result of this victory, and they have been one of the inform teams in the division over the last few months. Bruce, who took over at the club in the summer, is close to getting them back into the Premier league.
He has received a lot of praise from his opposition manager Clark, who has had to deal with several financial difficulties since arriving at Birmingham City. The two goals scored by Birmingham late in the match through Chris Burke and Peter Lovenkrands helped give the score a respectable look for the away team. As a result of this defeat, Birmingham are in the 17th position in the Championship table, while they have managed just one win in the last five matches. This has put the pressure on the manager Clark, who has been given the task of securing the club’s future in this division at least for the season.
“It is a tough place to come and when you are 30 seconds in and 1-0 down to quite a simple goal it is a tough one. From there it went from bad to worse and we were 3-0 down in half an hour. They were not great goals from our point of view – awful in fact. The first two are just down-the-middle goals, basic defending. We knew we would come under the cosh against them, they play high tempo, I don’t think it was down to our system or tactics,” said Clark.
